Obituary for Thomas Francis Flanigan

Thomas Francis Flanigan, age 79, of Seymour entered into rest on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Bonnie R. (Cody) Flanigan.

Tom was born in Clearfield, PA on August 24, 1941 son of the late Thomas James and Dorothy (Finnegan) Flanigan. He was a well-respected employee of Harvey Hubbell, Inc for 34 years until his retirement in 2006. Tom was a proud member of the Elks Club, a Fraternal Organization in Waterbury for 32 years and loved socializing and playing cards with his friends. He was an avid golfer and a die-hard New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Bonnie, his children, grandsons and his extended family. Tom was an incredibly generous man who put his family’s and friends’ needs ahead of his own. In return, he asked only to share in a good meal (preferably at the diner) and a good laugh. His offbeat sense of humor will be forever missed.

Tom was the beloved father of: Kari Glidden and her husband Scott and Scott Flanigan and his partner Monica Smith, loving grandfather of: Logan Flanigan, Dillon Flanigan, Thomas Glidden and Trevor Glidden and brother of: Marea Rebecca Taylor and Colleen Doonan. He was also survived by his sister and brother in-laws: Laurie and Anthony Yarrish, F. Patrick Cody, Richard and Nancy Cody and Richard Wilkinson. Tom was also survived by Lauren Stankye Flanigan and many nieces and nephews that he loved. He was predeceased by his grandson Christopher Flanigan and his sister Joyce Flanigan.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic his Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 1:30 PM and his burial at Mountain Meadows Cemetery are PRIVATE, but a Livestream of the Funeral Mass and a livestream of the Graveside Committal Prayers can be viewed.
