Obituary for Stanley J. Kudej

Stanley J. Kudej, age 82, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia (Henetz) Kudej. Stanley was born in Derby on June 29, 1938 son of the late Stanley and Cecylia (Pczonka) Kudej and was a lifelong Shelton resident.

He was a machinist for over 37 years at Honeywell until his retirement in 1997. Stan proudly served with the US Army. He was very active in the Shelton community serving as the Little League President for 35 years, Babe Ruth League President for 20 years and American Legion Baseball. Stan and his wife were very proud of the Challenger Little League Program they started. He was a member of the Republican Town Committee, served as the 2nd Ward Alderman and was a commissioner of the Shelton Parks and Recreation Committee. He was also a corporator of the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boys and Girls Club and a member of the American Legion Sutter-Terlizzi Post No. 16. He enjoyed watching UCONN Basketball, NASCAR and shooting sports.

Stanley was the beloved father of Daniel Kudej and his wife Wendy, David Kudej and his wife Vivian and Deborah Bennett and her husband Darrin, loving grandfather of Daniel Kudej Jr., Steven Kudej, David Kudej, Jr., Ryan Kudej and Tyler Kudej and Jenna Bennett and Justin Bennett, brother of Michael Kudej, Chester Kudej and the late Gregory Kudej, Sr. He was also survived by a sister in law Veronica Kudej and several nieces and nephews.

A walk-though visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. On Saturday, February 13, 2021 friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. The Mass will be livestreamed. His burial with military honors will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, and will also be livestreamed. Mask and Social Distancing are required for attendance at the church and cemetery.
