Obituary

Sophie Morosko Gazer, age 97, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Benchmark at Splitrock in Shelton.
Sophie was known to all as “Auntie Moe” and could easily be recognized wearing a red jacket and knit hat- even in the summertime!
She was the devoted wife of the late Henry Gazer. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on October 20, 1923, Sophie was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna ( Niciewicz) Morosko. She was proud to have been a resident of the Huntington section of Shelton when there was only a General Store and rural Post Office.
Sophie spent 28 years volunteering at the Griffin Hospital Thrift Shop and working at her brother’s pharmacy, Mahoney’s Drug Store.
She treasured being aunt to Stephen Morosko (Evelyn), Geraldine Rice (Stewart) and Kathleen Yolish (Norman). She was also great aunt to Justin Rice (Sarah), Father Morgan Rice, and Tressyn Morgan and Paige Morosko. Sophie was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen and Joseph Morosko and a sister Mary Krystofik.
A special pet, Kinzy Bean, provided her with love and companionship throughout the past fifteen years.
The family would like to acknowledge the love and support she received from her Dancing With the Stars group: Karen Oko, Mary Cacchillo, Sharon Thompson and Deb Perman. Special thanks to Dr John Farens for his compassionate, loving care and family support and the Splitrock team, especially Dave Fife, Theresa Waldron, Justine Critchley as well as the Harbor caregivers Marie, Eunice, Ursula and Virginia.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later time in the Spring. Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Condolences may be left at www.riverviewfh.com. Memorial contributions may be made to
Friends of the Shelton Animal Shelter in care of the Shelton Animal Shelter, 11 Brewster Lane, Shelton, CT 06484.
