Obituary for Sheila K. "Lolly" Persson

Sheila K. Persson “Lolly”, age 68, departed her loving family here on earth and went to be with her brother, David and her Mombert, Poppa, Jack and Junior in heaven on January 28, 2021.

Sheila was born in Milford, CT on March 1, 1952 to David A. and Patricia Mann Persson. Sheila was a devoted and loving mother to her son Patrick Cooney and her grandchildren: Kaylee Marie Cooney, Patrick Connor Cooney, Hunter Nicholas Cooney and Reilly Quinn Cooney.

Sheila was an educator in the Shelton School system for over 35 years. Sheila earned her Masters in Elementary Education and was pursuing her Doctorate. Sheila loved her students at Shelton Intermediate and worked tirelessly to instill a passion for learning in them. Sheila enjoyed vacationing on Block Island in the summer months when she would spontaneously board the ferry and be off to The Surf Hotel! She loved working in her yard and garden. She enjoyed sitting on her deck and admiring her moon flowers on a summer evening. Sheila’s family was very important to her. No one loved to organize and host an event for the family to enjoy more than Lolly.

Sheila leaves behind her parents David and Patricia Persson and her brothers and sisters; Edward Persson ,Gail Tibbetts, Glen Persson, Cherri Novack, Leslie Watton, MaryFaye Scuilla, Christine Turner, Raymond Persson and Daniel Persson. Sheila also leaves behind her ex husband and lifelong friend Jose Cooney. Lolly’s many nieces and nephews sorely miss her. Sheila was predeceased by her brother David Persson, daughter-in-law and mother to her beloved four grandchildren, Kelly Wooton, her granddaughter Cassidy Cooney, her grandparents and Uncles Willard and Jack Mann.
A public walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday February 2, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton.
Visitors are required to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11 am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane Shelton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mask and Social Distancing is required for the church and cemetery.
