Obituary for Richard W. Shorrock

Richard William Shorrock, age 69, of Shelton entered into rest on January 5, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Rick was a loving and protective husband of 39 years who provided constant comfort, reassurance, and love to his wife, Andrea Ruffalo Shorrock. She would say so often that he was truly the love of her life, her soul-mate without doubt.

He was born in Derby on October 16, 1951 son of the late William and June Cawthra Shorrock and was a lifelong Shelton resident. He was a Master Carpenter and business owner and was always willing to help his children with home improvement projects with no questions asked. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. Rick was a remarkable father and blessed with four "Daddy's little girls'' who absolutely adored him. Alicia and her husband Daniel Rivera, Stacey and her husband John Rossetti, Ricki Lee and her husband Jason Reis, and Ashley and her partner Joseph Martinez, cherished this man who was their first unconditional love. They were his heart and soul that will remain for eternity.

It is admirable that every barbeque, every trip, family event, and every chance he had to spend with his girls was a memorable one. Rick touched the lives of everyone he came across and developed many friendships and relationships. He was a celebration of life. Rick will always be a hero to his girls as they will forever be his little princesses. No one in this world can love a girl more than her father and he will hold their hearts forever.

He was a beloved grandfather to Alexa, Josh, Hayley, Isabella, Mila, Mikayla, and great grandfather of Henry and Lydia. His grandchildren are blessed to have the memories of quality time with their grandfather- whether it be stargazing in the night sky or listening to his meaningful stories of his younger years. He was loved by his sister and brother-in-law Bob and Lesa Fournier. He dearly loved and was loved by his nieces, nephews, and cousins. His tales of wisdom will be passed on through many generations.

He was one of three brothers - the three musketeers. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Shorrock and leaves behind his loving older brother George Shorrock.

He was known and loved by many people and everyone he encountered enjoyed his company. He loved to socialize around town especially at the old Conti building visiting friends. Rick was a loving patriarch to his family and a man who knew kindness without bounds. He was a selfless man who shared wisdom with all. He was a gentle man who strived for peace and comfort for his loved ones. His loving kindness and light will be remembered and dearly missed.

A public walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday January 10, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Visitors are required to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. Due to the attending issue with covid 19 pandemic, his funeral service with military honors will be livestreamed on Sunday at 12:15 am for those who wish to attend virtually.
