Peter P. Barna, age 87 of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Eileen Guillemette Barna for 57 years. Peter was born on June 18, 1933, the son of the late Michael and Mary Hoysak Barna. He was raised on his family farm in Huntington and remained a lifelong resident. He was a self-employed builder for over 40 years and
was a veteran of the US army serving four years. Pete was the proud owner of a restored 1930 Ford Model A and was often seen at many antique car shows where he enjoyed time with friends and car enthusiasts. He also loved to swim, especially with his friends at the community center. Pete is the beloved father of Susan Peet and husband Christopher of Milford, Richard Barna and wife April of West Hartford, Gail Melanson and husband David of Shelton. He is the proud grandfather of Christopher (Bevin), David, Nicole, Shannon, Jason, Jenna, Megan and Taylor as well as three great grandchildren. Pete is survived by his loving sister Anna Kerekes and was predeceased by two sisters and one brother. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and life-long close friends. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 11:30 am in Huntington Lawn Cemetery, 268 Huntington St. Shelton. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd.
