Obituary for Mitchell F. Kopec Sr.

Mitchell F. Kopec, Sr. age 90 of Seymour entered into rest on Monday January 5, 2020 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Sandra Webster Kopec. He was born in Derby on Nov. 11, 1930 son of the late Frank and Sophie (Karkut) Kopec and was a resident of Shelton before moving to Seymour in 1981. Mitchell was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He started his career at B.F. Goodrich where he was employed for 24 years. He continued his employment as a Supervisor at Derby Cellular Products for 10 years until his retirement in 1998. He was also a Gardner for the Larkin Family Estate in Middlebury. He was a member of the Seymour Senior Citizen and a Volunteer at the Ansonia Nature Center.
He is survived by four children Mitchell Kopec, Jr. and his girlfriend Jaime, Richard Kopec and his wife Deidra, Susan Kopec Jutcawitz and her husband Randall, Heidi Reardon and her husband John, two stepsons Peter Schlegel and the late Kenneth Schlegal, 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Joseph Kopec, Ted Kopec and three sisters Ann Gucwa, Helen Lazowski, Tess Nizgorski

Due to the covid pandemic a private funeral was held with a military honor burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton, are entrusted with the arrangements.
