Obituary for Melba Maria Galarza

Melba Maria Galarza, age 77 of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 27, 2021 at 11:30 PM with her three children surrounding her in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born in Ecuador on May 21, 1943 daughter of the late Christobal Galarza and Teresa Pavon Galarza. Melba was employed for many years at Montclair University until her retirement.
Melba was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to travel, sing and dance to her favorite music, cook, and found pure bliss in feeding people her delicious food. Melba could never say no to anyone and would go as far as giving you the shirt off her back or her last dollar if you needed it. She had a contagious smile that would brighten anyone’s spirit. Her greatest treasures in life were her children and grandchildren.
She is the beloved mother of Jacqueline Romero, Jorge Romero, Rafael Morales Jr., and Betsy Morales, loving grandmother of Roberto Lopez Jr., Leslieann Morales, Andrew Lopez, Tiffany Lopez, Brandon Romero, Jakalynn Badillo, Ray’Jordan Badillo, loving great grandmother of 7. She is also survived by her siblings Jesus Antonio Galarza, Fernando Galarza, Ruby Galarza, Maria Luisa Galarza, Cecilia Alvarez, Hortencia Velez, Narcissa Soto and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two siblings, Christobal Nabor Galarza, and Teresa De Jesus Galarza. And two grandchildren Ramon Angel (RJ) Badillo and Skylar Marie Romero
A walk through wake will take place on Monday April 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd., Shelton. Visitors are required to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. Friends and Family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church 420 Coram Ave. Shelton, which will also be livestreamed. Masks and social distance are required for attendance. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate.
