Obituary for Mario Ferreira Martins
Mario Ferreira Martins, age 80, a resident of Shelton since 1972, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Delfina Silva Santos Martins. Born in Arcosso, Portugal on December 16, 1940, Mario was the son of the late Manuel Martins and Maria de Conceicao Ferreira. He was the owner and operator of Mario’s Mechanical Services for many years until his retirement. He was an inventor and patent-holder who developed innovative solutions to several problems in the printing industry. He was also a capable carpenter and created handmade furniture and custom cabinets for the home.
He was the beloved father of daughters Maria Delfina Santos Martins, Susana Santos Martins and son Mario Manuel Santos Martins, who is married to Sonal Pandya. He was also a loving grandfather to Christina Delfina Martins Mendes, Arjun Shah and the late Matthew Martins Mendes.
A walk-through visitation will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Visitors are required to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. On Monday, funeral services will be private.
