Obituary for John A. Splan

John A. Splan, age 88, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Cecelia (Wiacek) Splan. John was born in Norwalk on November 17, 1932 son of the late John and Margaret (McCarthy) Splan and was a Shelton resident for most of his life. He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John was a steamfitter for the Local 777 and owner of Splan Services, Inc. and J.S.Splan, Consulting, LLC. He enjoyed printing art and photography. John was an avid N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Yankees and UCONN Huskies basketball fan. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren compete in sports. John is the beloved father of Shawn Splan and his wife Nancy and loving grandfather of Kevin and Katie Splan. He is also by his daughter-in-laws family, Aurelia Caprio, James Caprio, Laura Daniels and her companion Dan Neal and Richard and Theresa Moore and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a brother James Splan and two sisters, Ann “Nancy” Forest and Patricia Anderson. A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 11 am in Assumption Church, 61 N Cliff St., Ansonia. His burial with military honors will be private at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
