Obituary for Harry S. Donnelly
Harry S. Donnelly, Jr., age 82, passed away at home on Monday, December 7, 2020, with his family at his side, after a long illness.
Only child of Frances (Fitzgerald) and Harry S. Donnelly, Sr., Harry was born in Bridgeport on January 15, 1938. He moved to Shelton forty years ago.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Joyce (Keefe) Donnelly of Shelton, daughter Gail Donnelly of Shelton, son David S. Donnelly (Jennifer Richmond) of Bridgeport, daughter-in-law Carmita Yunga of Bridgeport, three cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Thomas and Coleen Donnelly of Bridgeport, and cousins Bill Fitzgerald of Virginia and Patrick Fitzgerald of Illinois.
Harry worked for many years at City Trust Bank in Bridgeport, followed by twenty-five years as an examiner for the State of Connecticut Department of Banking.
Always preferring to be close to home, Harry was frequently heard to observe that if it could not be found in Fairfield County it was not worth seeing. He spent many enjoyable hours at the Stratford beaches and at Bridgeport’s Seaside Park and Captain’s Cove Seaport.
Harry was a life member of the Bridgeport Rifle Club, where he served as Secretary for thirty years. He was a member of the Shelton Historical Society and St. Lawrence Parish in Shelton.

On Saturday, friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. His burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford. Masks and social distancing are required. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with his arrangements.
