Obituary for Francis "Brut" Markut

Francis R. "Brut" Markut, age 79 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born October 9, 1941 and was raised in Shelton, son to the late Frank and Mary Markut, and was married to his beloved wife, Elizabeth, of 57 years. He lived in Monroe for over 50 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Frank Markut and his wife Dawn of Newtown, David Markut of Monroe and Sean Markut of West Haven. He has three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Christopher, Erin and David. He is also survived by one sister Blanche Grosser and husband Frank of Shelton, sister-in-law Corrine Markut of Monroe, and several nieces and nephews. Francis is predeceased by brothers Richard Markut and William Markut.

Francis worked as a skilled carpenter for Local 210 for over 50 years. His pleasures were simple and earthly. He was an avid gardener and loved to fish and go camping and just being outdoors in his free time. Loved telling interesting stories of days gone by. Some of his favorite moments were sitting by a crackling fire listening to Classical music and being with his beloved family. Brut had a kind and gentle nature that will be missed terribly.
