Elvira O’Donoghue, age 98, a Shelton resident for most of her life peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday January 19, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Neil O’Donoghue. She was born in Jessup, PA on October 16, 1922 the daughter of the late Andrew and Eugenia (Saksou) Ivan.

Elvira worked in retail for most of her professional career, most notably at Read’s Department Store. She enjoyed spending time gardening and baking. Her greatest pride in life was her 9 loving children.

She is survived by her children Linda Philie, Rick O’Donoghue (Cindy), Tim O’Donoghue (Diane), Kathy Jerome (Jerry), Sue O’Donoghue (Mike Fitzgerald), Mark O’Donoghue (Susan), Judy Burke (Gary), and James O’Donoghue, 22 loving grandchildren, and 13 cherished great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen O’Donoghue, son-in-laws Bill Philie and Robert Gingold, and her siblings Gabriel Ivan, Andrea Budzik and Georgette Harkabus.

Friends and family are invited to attend Elvira’s graveside service on Monday January 25, 2021 at 1 PM in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. Masks and social distancing are required to attend the service. For those that cannot attend, a livestream can be viewed here.
