Obituary for Earle William "Bill" Haste

Earle William “Bill” Haste, age 91, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at CT Hospice in Branford with his loving family by his side.

Bill was the devoted husband of 66 years to Anna (Witalis) Haste. Born in Bridgeport on March 10, 1930, son of the late Earle and Etta Mae (Delalley) Haste. He was raised in Bridgeport before moving to Stratford. In 1965, he and his wife moved to Shelton where they have resided for over 50 years.

Bill proudly served with the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He made a career in banking, working as Branch Manager of Connecticut National Bank in Huntington, People’s Bank Master Card Department in Bridgeport and Aspetuck Village in Huntington. Bill was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in Huntington and a former President of the Huntington Civitan Club. In his free time, he loved to tinker. He enjoyed painting, woodworking and going to the gym. Cooking and baking were also things he loved to do and share with his family. He always had a smile on his face and was quick with the jokes. Most of all, his family was very important to him. He was always there to help them, whether building a porch or painting a house. You could always count on him to lend a helping hand.

Bill was the loving father of Gary Haste and his wife Barbara of Seymour, Deborah Bonetti and her husband Barry of Southbury, Linda Haste of Maine and James Haste and his wife Kim of Oxford, loving grandfather of Kurt Haste-Love, Christopher Bonetti, Rebecca Bonetti, Ashley Haste, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sisters Alma (Haste) Goranowski and Etta Mae (Haste) Larson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring individuals at Smilow Cancer Center, Connecticut Hospice and everyone who graciously lended a hand in his time of need.
